I think is difficult to make fake Garmin watch - it is quite complex watch and is easy to check if it really works as should. Maybe those products are stolen and therefore without the box. There are also people throwing out boxes too, so it may be also this case.
So even if eBay’s online watch sales have protections against fake watches, there are still a lot of ways it can go wrong. Which it did for me when a dealer sent the wrong watch (on purpose). The ultimately successful back-and-forth was a major PITA.
